  • MAJOR SINS- 1) Shirk i.e Ascribing Associates To Allah, the Most High

MAJOR SINS- 1) Shirk i.e Ascribing Associates To Allah, the Most High

    shirk

The worst major sin is Shirk.

    It is of two kinds:

    1. a) To hold that Allah has an equal, whereas He has created you, and to worship another with Him, whether it be a stone, tree, sun, moon, prophet, sheikh, star, angel or other. This is the greatest shirk mentioned by Allah, the Most High.

    The Almighty, says,

    • “Allah forgives not (the sin of) joining other gods with Him; but He forgives whom He pleases, other sins than this; one who joins other gods with Allah has strayed far, far away (from the right).”(An-Nisa:l16)
    • “False worship is indeed the highest wrong-doing.” (Luqman:13)
    • Whoever joins other gods with Allah; Allah will forbid him the Garden, and the Fire will be his abode.”

    (Al-Ma’idah:72)

The Qur’anic verses concerning this are very numerous. It is being absolutely certain that whoever ascribes associates to Allah and dies in such a state is one of Hell’s inhabitants, just as whoever believes in Allah and dies as a believer is one of the inhabitants of Paradise, even if he should be punished first.

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said,

“Shall I tell you of the worst major sins? Worshipping others with Allah, showing disrespect to parents, giving a false statement, and testifying to the truth of a falsehood. And he kept repeating it until we were telling ourselves (out of sympathy for him because of the strain of repeating it)

Avoid the seven heinous sins.” and he mentioned ascribing associates to Allah.

    b) Ostentation

“Beware of the lesser shirk. They asked, “What is the lesser shirk?” He said, “Showing off in good works.”

Allah, the Almighty will say when recompensing the mankind for their deeds:

    • “Go to those whom you showed off to in the world to see how they could recompense you .” 1

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said,

    • “A person who does some good work in order to boast will have his faults exposed by Allah Most High and a person whose motive in doing some good deed is to show it, Allah the Most High will treat him as a hypocrite.” 2

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said,

    • “There may be a faster who does not gain from his fasting but hunger and thirst.”

A wise man said, “Just as the one who shows off in good works is the one who fills his purse with pebbles and leaves for the market to buy food. If he opened it before the seller he will be stoned with it in his face. He gains nothing but the people’s inquiry about what fills his purse, nothing more. Thus, the one who shows off in good works will have no value but the people’s saying that he did good and he will not be rewarded in the Hereafter.”

    Allah, the Almighty, says,

    • And We shall turn to whatever deeds they did (in this life), and We shall make such deed as floating dust scattered about.” (AI-Furqan:23)

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said,

    • “On the Day of Judgment some groups of people will be brought near Paradise. Having smelt its fragrance, and seen palaces and blessings therein, they will hear a call saying “Take them away, it is not for them.”

Accordingly, they return so sorrowful that no one could have such feeling. They will call upon Allah, “O Lord were we entered into the Hell-Fire before seeing what You have prepared for Your Friends,it would have been better.”

Then Allah will say, That is what I want. When you were alone you defied Me with grievous sins, but when you meet people you showed off in good works, You only respected people not Me, You only refrain (from things) for their sake. Hence, today, I will severely torment you in addition to depriving you from My bountiful reward.” 3

It was related that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (Peace be upon him)

“How can I be redeemed?” The Prophet said, “If you do not deceive Allah” The man asked, “How is Allah deceived?” He replied, “When you do something which Allah and His Messenger commanded you to do but you intended other than pleasing Allah. Beware of ostentation, it is the lesser shirk (polytheism); On the Day of Judgment, the ostentatious will be called at the presence of all creatures by four names: O Ostentatious, O traitors, O corrupt, O loser; what you did is wasted and your reward is nullified. We will not reward you, go and get your reward from whomever you acted to deceive?”

    • A wise man was asked, “Who is the sincere one?” He replied, “It is he who hides his good deeds as he does with his bad deeds.” Someone asked, “What is the good of sincerity?” He said, “When you dislike to be praised by people.”

Al-Fudail Ibn Eiad, may Allah be pleased with him said, “To refrain from an action for the sake of people is ostentation. To do something for their sake is shirk (polytheism). But sincerity is to be aware of them.

O Allah! Let us be away from them and forgive us.

  • Major Sins – Introduction

    Major Sins – Introduction

    major-sins-in-islam

Assalamu alikum, today we will look at the definition of major sins and what ALLAH Subhanahu wataa’la says in the Quran. InshaAllah,in our future posts,we will discuss them one by one.
We are obliged to learn what the major sins are, so that Muslims may avoid them.

    DEFINITION:

Major sins are defined as what is FORBIDDEN by Allah and His Messenger in the Qur’an and the Sunnah.

In addition to what is narrated on the authority of early Muslims. Allah, the Most high, promises to expiate his minor sins, whoever avoids the major sins.

    Allah, the Almighty says,
“If you(but) eschew the most heinous of the things which you are forbidden to do, we shall remit your evil deeds, and admit you to a gate of great honour.” (An-Nisaa :31)

In this text, Allah, the Most High, also promises whoever avoids the major sins to admit him to Paradise.

    Allah, the Almighty says,
“Those who avoid the greater sins and indecencies, and when they are angry even they forgive”
    (Ash-Shura:37)

    The Qur’an also states,
“Those who avoid great sins and indecent deeds, save lesser offences, verily thy Lord is ample in forgiveness.” (An-Najm:32)

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said,
“The five prescribed Prayers, and from one Friday Prayer to another and from Ramadan to another entail forgiveness for what is between them as long as you do not commit the major sins.”
Scholars of Sacred knowledge are of different opinions about the number of the major sins. It is argued that they are
only seven owing to the Prophet’s (Peace be upon him) saying,
    “Avoid the seven heinous sins:
    1. Worshipping others with Allah,
    2. sorcery,
    3. taking a life which Allah has made sacred except in the course of justice,
    4. devouring usury,
    5. appropriating the property of the orphan,
    6. fleeing from the battlefield, and
    7. charging believing women, unmindful though innocent, with adultery.”
Reported by Muslim, Tirmidhi, Ibn Khuzaymah and Ahmed.
Ibn Abbas holds that they are likely counted as seventy not seven. That is a good point of view because enumeration is not intended in the Hadith.
As a matter of fact, any sin entailing either a threat of punishment in the Hereafter explicitly mentioned by the Qur’an or Hadith, a prescribed legal penalty (Hadd), or being accursed by Allah or His Messenger (Peace be upon him) is called a major sin.
We have to bear in mind that some major sins are more heinous than others. This is because the Prophet (Peace be upon him) has enlisted Shirk (worshipping others with Allah) though a polytheist will suffer eternal torture in Fire and will never be forgiven.
    Allah, the Almighty, says,
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills. And he who associates others with Allah has certainly gone far astray.

    (An-Nisa:116)

BE KIND TO your CHILDREN and TREAT THEM EQUALLY

    children

We should keep the following hadiths in mind when dealing with our children:

Abu Huraira Radi Allahu anhu reported that al-Aqra’ bin Habis saw Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) kissing Hasan Radi Allahu anhu. He said: I have ten children, but I have never kissed any one of them, whereupon Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: He who does not show mercy (towards his children), no mercy would be shown to him.
    Muslim :: Book 30 : Hadith 5736

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “He is not of us who does not have mercy on young children, nor honor the elderly”
    (At-Tirmidhi)

The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Act equally between your children; Act equally between your sons.
Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 3537,Narrated by An-Nu’man ibn Bashir

‘A’isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported that there came a few desert Arabs to Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) and said: Do you kiss your children? He said: Yes. Thereupon they said: By Allah but we do not kiss our children. Thereupon Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) said: Then what can I do if Allah has deprived you of mercy? Ibn Numair said: ( has deprived) your heart of mercy.
    Muslim :: Book 30 : Hadith 5735

The Apostle of Allah (peace be upon him) came to some children who were playing: He greeted them lovingly.
Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 5183,Narrated by Anas ibn Malik

Al-Bara’ said, “I saw the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, when al-Hasan Radi Allahu anhu was on his shoulder. He was saying, ‘O Allah, I love him, so love him.’”

I prayed along with Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) the first prayer. He then went to his family and I also went along with him when he met some children (on the way). He began to pat the cheeks of each one of them. He also patted my cheek and I experienced a coolness or a fragrance of his hand as if it had been brought out from the scent bag of a perfumer.

Don’t deny the favors of Allah Subhaanahu wataa’la.

Appreciate what you’ve got. Acting contrary to this attracts the calamity of Allah. If you don’t have some things in your life, you should be thankful for all the other blessings that you have.

Many a times we fixate on just one thing that we don’t have and overlook all the other bounties of Allah. This is one of the traps of shaitan to develop a feeling of ingratitude in us and overwhelm us with sadness and grief.

According to a hadith, when we leave something for the sake of Allah, ALLAH replaces it with something much better than what we left for His sake.

Today we will learn about The LINEAGE Of The Prophet (Peace be upon him).

Just as he is the most complete of people in terms of character,
our Prophet (Peace be upon him) is superior to all other human beings in terms of his noble lineage.

The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, “Verily, Allah – ‘Azza wa-Jall
(the Possessor of might and majesty) – chose Ismaa’eel from the
    children of Ibraaheem; Kinaanah from the children of Ismaa’eel;
    Quraish from Kinaanah; the children of Haashim from Quraish;
and me from the children of Haashim.”

Imam Bukhaaree, may Allah have mercy on him – mentioned the
lineage of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) (keep in mind that ‘ibn’ means, ‘son of):

“He is Abul-Qaasim Muhammad ibn ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Abdul-
Muttalib ibn Haashim ibn ‘ Abd-Manaaf ibn Qusai ibn Kilaab ibn
Murrah ibn Ka’ab ibn Luaiy ibn Ghaalib ibn Faihr ibn Maalik ibn
An-Nadar ibn Kinaanah ibn Khuzaimah ibn Mudrikah ibn Ilyaas
ibn Mudar ibn Nizaar ibn Ma’ ad ibn ‘Adnaan.” [1]

    In Sharhus-Sunnah, Al-Bagawee mentioned the Prophet’s lineage
up until ‘Adnaan, and then said, “Beyond ‘Adnaan, his lineage is
    not correctly memorized.”

Ibn Al-Qayyim mentioned the Prophet’s lineage until ‘Adnaan
and then said, “(The Prophet’s) lineage until here is known to be
correct and is agreed upon by genealogists, so there is no
disagreement whatsoever. As for what is beyond ‘Adnaan, there
is difference of opinion. Yet they (genealogists) unanimously
agree that ‘Adnaan is from the direct line of Ismaa’eel Alaihissalaam

And Ibn Sa’d wrote in his Tabaqaat: “We refrain (from claiming
any knowledge about the lineage of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) between ‘Adnaan and Ismaa’eel .”

Men with noble lineages have throughout history been accorded
with special honour. People question the right of a person of low lineage to be a leader – a king, a president, an emperor, etc.

Since the Prophet (Peace be upon him)was being prepared for Prophethood, Allah blessed him with a
noble lineage, thus making it easier for people to accept and
    follow him.

The Prophet(Peace be upon him) indeed possesses the most wonderful lineage. He is from the direct line of both Ismaaeel Alaihissalaam and Ibraaheem Alaihissalaam

Furthermore, he is the answer to Ibraaheem Alaihissalaam’ s supplication; he said about himself, “I am the supplication of my father Ibraaheem (i.e., the answer to his supplication), and the glad
tidings of my brother ‘Eesa (Jesus).”

It is most often the case that people who are blessed with noble lineages aspire for higher goals and aims, and turn away from base desires; and of course, this was especially true of Prophets and Messengers

  • Biography of Prophet Mohammad (ﷺ)-Events before his birth (Destruction of Abraha and his army)

Biography of Prophet Mohammad (ﷺ)-Events before his birth (Destruction of Abraha and his army)

    1795765_10152315232009766_173149985_n

Today we will learn about an important event that took place before the Birth Of The Prophet (Peace be upon him).

After you finish reading this, don’t forget to send durood on our Holy Prophet Mohammad Sallal laahoo alaihi wassallam and share this knowledge with your friends and family.

As the Prophet’s birth approached, many signs occurred that affirmed his Prophethood and blessedness; one of the greatest of those signs was what happened to Abraha and his army.

This is mentioned in the Holy Quran. ”Have you (O Muhammad) not seen how your Lord dealt with the owners of the elephant?”

(The elephant army which came from Yemen under the command of Abraha Al-Ashram intending to destroy the Ka’bah at Makkah),

“Did He not make their plot go astray? And sent against them birds, in flocks, striking them with stones of Sijjil. And made them like an empty field of stalks (of which the corn has been eaten up by cattle) . ” (Qur’an 105; 1-5)

Many scholars maintain that the story of the elephant is one of the signs of the Prophethood of Muhammad (Peace be upon him).

How so? First, had the Quraish fought Abraha and lost the battle, they would have been taken as slaves and prisoners. But Allah destroyed Abraha, thus protecting the Prophet (Peace be upon him) from being born a slave.

Second, based on their beliefs and practices, the Quraish did not deserve to be protected from the army of the elephant; they were idol worshippers who were far astray from the truth. When it came to protecting Makkah, what was important was honoring the Ka’bah and paving the way for the Prophet (Peace be upon him).

The events of the story point to the advent of Muhammad (Peace be upon him),who was in his mother’s womb when they occurred; he was born 50 days later.

When Arabs learned of what Allah did with the Army of the Elephant, they felt awe and veneration for Makkah, and they treated the Quraish with greater honour than ever before.

This sign (the miraculous destruction of Abraha’ s army) did not take place for the sake of those who lived beside the Ka’bah at that time, but instead for the sake of the House itself, or for the sake of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) who was born that year beside the House.

Such was Allah’s planning for His House and religion, even before anyone knew that the Messenger of Allah was going to be born in that same year.

In remembering the story of Abraha, we should feel consolation and hope when we see the imperial designs of those who greedily look at our lands – and especially our holy lands – with hopes of conquest. Allah protected His House from the People of the Book when Makkah was inhabited by polytheists; now both Makkah and Al-Madeenah are inhabited by Muslims, and so He certainly will – Insha Allah – defend and protect both holy lands from evildoers.
